Getting Started with Editing on a Mac

Q: So I've filmed all my footage, but I'm not sure what I need to do to edit it.
A: (answer-ish anyway) Well, what we do here at A-KonŽ TV is to then input the video on to the computer and use an editing package to cut the film the way we want it.
At A-KonŽ TV, we use Macs almost exclusively. We edit in Final Cut Pro, but iMovie works pretty well too. If you're a Mac user and can afford it, Final Cut Pro is the ultimate editing program in our opinion.
But if you're on a bit of a budget, you can use Final Cut Express, which has is basically Final Cut Pro with a reduced set of features, (although the package keeps getting better) or even iMovie, which is loaded on any Mac that has shipped in the past few years. There are certain features that iMovie doesn't have, such as multi-camera capability and things like blue screen or green screen, but if you're not looking to do effects shots, it is quite the capable editor.
